...but on Thursday morning June 30th, just hours away, our K-9 might think, "wow, crate's in the car, maybe I get to go to Barkley Square, the dog park in DeLand, Florida.
Au contraire! No, Riley's journey will migrate to various points across the lower 48 states first. Will Riley's bladder be sufficient to mark his territory appropriately across the big wide state of Texas? Will he have anything left for Alaska? We will find out.
Riley's crate will also be cruising the desert plateau highways of New Mexico and then will cross the mountain passes of Colorado by mid July and through the Canyonlands of Utah; Glacier Park in Montana by the end of July. Then it's Canada and onto the wild and free Alcan Highway.
But enough about what's ahead. Let's safely get Riley dog across the Florida panhandle, first. We'll update you with the oddities and details of this Alaska-bound road trip that originated in Florida at the beach, about 90 minutes from MouseTown. (That's Orlando). You might be just as curious as we are, about the adventures about to unfold for not only Riley, but Riley's crazed parents. (We wouldn't dare involve our 20-something human offspring in something so crazy). I agree: WHO DRIVES from Florida to Alaska "the long way" WITH a dog at THESE gas prices? Insanely foolish. But we're done with being responsible and rational. We'll reveal as we go.
( If you are kinda new to following blogs, remember that this paragraph is just the first entry....click on the MONTH headings to the right of your page to see the story and photo headings as we go along.
So.... catchya on down the blue highways from here to Fairbanks and Anchorage. Let's hope the "Dough" in the ...Re Mi holds out for the rest of the trip.
New posts should list down on the right of your page under the month headings. Most are grouped under JULY and AUGUST.... There will be pictures and videos....
As Riley might say..... "bone voyage !"- (I know, that's a groan....)
-- B, L (& R-dog).
We have fresh water and buttermilk biscuits waiting for you, way out here in Idaho, Riley.
